The Fastest Growing Kids Coding Franchise in North America is Now Open in Burlington
This media release was originally posted by Code Ninjas.
Students ages 7 to 14 will be introduced to programming basics, robotics, app creation, game development, and more as they follow Code Ninjas’ systematic curriculum, designed by coding professionals.
BURLINGTON, ON – October 25, 2019 – Say the words “video game” and your kids are bound to stop and listen. The new Code Ninjas, located in the ActivityPlex at 3410 Mainway, shows that video games aren’t only fun, but educational. Code Ninjas will serve the local area by teaching children computer coding and problem-solving skills while having fun building video games.
Code Ninjas Burlington offers a unique educational program, geared toward teaching children computer programming through its engaging, game-based curriculum. Working with students ages seven to fourteen, Code Ninjas capitalizes on kids’ love of video games, technology and play by introducing complex concepts through hands-on learning.
“Students interested in technology have a chance to work side-by-side with like-minded kids and create enduring friendships, while building self-confidence and communication skills,” said Mark Gregory, parent to a child Code Ninja participant. “Which is truly where the gap in the marketplace currently exists. Together, kids have ‘their space’, like arcades of days past, and will connect with education in a way that is fun.”
To celebrate the opening of the new centre, Code Ninjas Burlington will have a grand opening event on November 9th. Complimentary game building sessions, STEM learning activities and refreshments will be offered for everyone to get familiar with the Code Ninjas curriculum.
Children ages 7-14 can look forward to visiting the Code Ninjas centre to learn how to code in a fun, safe, and social learning environment where gaming is celebrated, and STEM is cool. Everything about Code Ninjas is built around fun, which keeps kids coming back. But the centre also provides the results that parents are looking for, as their children gain coding and problem-solving skills they’ll need for the jobs of the future.
This step-by-step approach helps students to build upon their skills in a logical way. It also challenges them to stretch themselves and use critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they advance to higher levels while gaining coding and problem-solving skills they’ll need for the jobs of the future.
Code Ninjas’ core program consists of a nine-belt system, just like martial arts. The curriculum is self-paced, but not self-taught; kids get support and encouragement from Code Senseis® (instructors) and collaborate with peers as they advance from white to black belt. The program keeps kids motivated with “Belt-Up” celebrations, where they receive colour-coded wristbands to mark their graduation to the next level. By the time a student finishes the program, they will publish a real app in an app store.
Code Ninjas offers a variety of opportunities for kids to get involved, including a flexible weeknight drop-in program, camps and Parents Night Out events on weekends.
